1 Turn on or restart the computer and press “F8” on the boot screen before the Windows Vista logo appears.
2 Use the arrow keys to select “Repair Your Computer” from the menu. Press “Enter” or allow the timer to reach “0” to boot to the recovery partition.
3 Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language preferences and log in to System Recovery Options.
4 Choose “Startup Repair” from the menu. The application will scan your hard drive for errors that are preventing Windows Vista from booting.
5 Follow the on-screen instructions to repair the operating system or restart the computer.
